Spotlight Dance on...Roy Edroso!

As I've said many times in the past, I consider Roy of Alicublog to be in a dead heat for title of Best Writer on the Internets, a literal genius in a virtual world (which sounds like a great gig, but probably gets annoying, because like Oscar Wilde he has to declare it every time he goes through Customs.  Plus,  overzealous CBP agents will often pull him aside at ports of entry, don greased latex gloves, and search his ports of entry, just to make sure he isn't trying to beat the import duties by smuggling any undeclared genius into the country.)

Anyway, he wrote a book (yay!), but the publisher rolled belly up like a neglected goldfish (sigh).  After a suitable mourning period, or extended blackout, he has joined the digital frontier, and his neo-noir novel Morgue for Whores is now available as an "e-book" (I'm not up on all the latest technical patois of cyberspace, but I presume that stands for "edroso-book").

I'll be purchasing a copy as soon as recent financial reverses reverse themselves, but in the meantime, if you'd like one of your very own, and and I suspect you do, click here.

I'm told Morgue for Whores has lots of violence, and weltschmerz, and the sex scenes are not only as hot as the one in Bill O'Reilly's novel, Those Who Trespass, but they are (to my mind at least), even hotter than the ones in Scooter Libby's novel The Apprentice, because the bear-on-girl intercourse is fully consensual, and the bear -- while still locked in a cage and poked with bamboo sticks -- is given a safe word.  However, in the interest of full disclosure, I have heard that it's not quite as funny as Jerome Corsi's Where's the Birth Certificate?.

Sounds fascinating... with a title like "MORGUE FOR WHORES, it sounds like a vaguely/shortly-futuristic account of Bill Clinton's autopsy.

Followed, in no short order, by O'Reilly, Rupert Murdoch, John Stossel, that foppish "movie reviewer" with a 2X Stossel-stache, K-Low, Peggy Nooners, et al... n'est-ce pas?

Or are we talking fiction here?

Also, are any of the hookers in the book named "Mistryra"? Kind of a smash-up of "Misty," that whimsical and nostalgic moniker of strippers of old, and of course, the rising star of new stripper/hooker names, "Tyra"??? Maybe with a little "mistress"-ishness thrown in for marketing savvy?

For the record, I was that neglected goldfish, starved by the invisible hand who wouldn't feed me with gold.

Buy it. Download it. Get the Chinese pirated version if you have to. It's good.

Three cheers for Edroso! I'm a sucker for a murder mystery, and the first few pages suggest a nice "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"-ish vibe in the writing.

In Perry Mason news, incidentally, currently watching the David McCallum ep, with McCallum playing a shy frenchman accused of murder. Thanks again, M. Bouffant!

McCallum was himself painfully shy about his appearance at the time: "I felt as if I were held back by my physicality. I was a small, emaciated blond with a caved chest, so there weren't an awful lot of parts for me."

Weird, huh? As I recall it, "Illya Kuryakin" was on the cover of "Tiger Beat" every friggin' month.

Jay-Roy (are you SURE that you're not Appalachian??), dear heart, thanks to good, kind friends with back-inventories of books that never moved or that they set-aside as salesmen samples for me, I haven't had to BUY but one book in the past 9 years or so, but I promise you this:

When I am able, I will INDEED buy yer book, download it, or if need be, shill-out to Chinese or Roma pirates for a badly-re-translated copy of it. Sounds like a right fuckin' HOOT, and I eagerly await the experience! Even if nobody laughs and my damned gags on Scott's writing/reviews anymore... *sigh*

BTW, is "fughrop" a verb or a noun?

OH!!! BTW, HEYYYY, THORLAC!!! Mannn, have I missed YOUR ornery ass!!!

Y'ever hear from Mentata or Melior? Miss the hell outta THEM, too... can't believe that it's been five years already... *sigh*

Some guys just can't take a fuckin' apology, even for a purely unintentional brain-fart.

Thanks, Annti! I'm often doing lurk-bys here. I'd comment more often but that would require that I stop smashing my head into my keyboard from all of the idiocy I see every day. I have learned that keyboards are cheaper in bulk, btw.
